When You Lose Hair in Your 20s
Premature hair loss is more often associated with men. This is because men lose hair in a specific area, making it extremely visible. Women, on the other hand, lose hair in a more generalised hair thinning over the scalp. But the fact is that both males and females can lose hair early on.
Because hair loss is commonly thought of as something that occurs only in older men, it can be devastating when it happens in your 20’s. The hairline noticeably recedes and can progress quickly to thin out the frontal hairline. After shampooing and combing, more hair shedding can be seen.
Majority of early hair loss is due to a hormonal by product called DHT or dihydrotestosterone. Especially in people genetically predisposed to pattern baldness, DHT is the primary contributing factor for the shrinking of the hair follicles. The result is thinner and finer hair as you age.
What can you do if you begin to lose hair in your 20’s?
Various hairstyles can make hair loss less obvious. Taking in vitamins and minerals especially B complex vitamins, vitamin E, zinc, and magnesium can help promote healthy hair. Smoking causes the blood vessels to constrict. Avoid smoking as this can reduce blood supply even to the scalp.
The best way is to focus on reducing or inhibiting the amount of DHT present on the scalp. Oral medications, topical drugs, or herbal based shampoos such as saw palmetto can be used. You must know that the sooner preventive measures are started, the more successful you will be.
But once these preventive treatments are stopped, the hair gained can be lost over time and you can start to lose hair again. So it is important to choose the right hair loss treatment. Drug based ones can have side effects and the longer you use them, the more exposed you are to these negative effects. A non pharmaceutical treatment with safe natural herbal based active ingredients can work to produce real results without the risks posed by drugs.
