WHAT IS CAUSING HAIR LOSS?

Today, hair loss is becoming a very common problem. Many people think that hair loss is
exclusively a male problem. The truth is, women are also suffering from this unwanted condition. Something elseto think about about hair loss is it can now be seen in younger individuals, some in their early 20s, and others in their teens.Previously, hair loss typically starts around the age of 30 and older.
What are the causes of hair loss?
There are actually a whole lot of causes of hair loss: stress, extreme dieting, health problems like anorexia, chemotherapy and a lot more. But the most frequent cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia. Also called “male pattern hair loss” in men and “female pattern hair loss” in women. This is a genetic or familial type of hair loss. For some reason, the hair loss gene causes the hair follicles to become sensitive to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT, a male dominant hormone.
DHT comes from testosterone when it interacts with the enzyme 5 alpha reductase. Studies have shown that DHT slowly stiffen the scalp, reducing the blood supply of the hair follicles. This lack of blood flow deprives the hair follicles from vital nutrients needed for healthy hair growth. Little by little, the hair produced follicles becomes thinner and thinner until only very thin and transparent hair is produced called fuzz or peach hair.
Why are women affected by androgenetic alopecia?
Although, testosterone and DHT are mainly male hormones, females also produce these hormones but in little amounts. Women produce testosterone by the adrenals and also converts to DHT by 5 alpha reductase, exactly the same process but in small amounts.
Treatment
Sadly, the cure for hair loss has yet to be discovered and only treatments are available to stop the progress of hair loss and also stimulate hair growth. The difficulty with hair loss treatments is when it is discontinued hair loss will again start, so it is important to use these products continuously.
Presently, there are plenty of hair loss treatment products available, but be aware that some treatments have severe side effects in males. But there are safer herbal nutrient based treatments that are available, these products are proven to be safe even after years of use.
