What Are The Causes of Hair Loss

What are the causes of hair loss?
There are actually a lot of causes of hair loss: stress, extreme dieting, health conditions like anorexia, chemotherapy and a lot more. But themost frequent cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia. Also called “male pattern hair loss” in men and “female pattern hair loss” in women. This is a hereditary or familial type of hair loss. For some reason, the hair loss gene causes the hair follicles to become sensitive to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT, a male dominant hormone.DHT comes from testosterone when it interacts with the enzyme 5 alpha reductase.
Research has shown that DHT slowly stiffen the scalp, shrinking the blood supply of the hair follicles. This lack of blood flow deprives the hair follicles from vital nutrients required for healthy hair growth. Little by little, the hair produced by follicles becomes thinner and thinner until only very thin and transparent hair is produced called fuzz or peach hair.
Why are women affected by androgenetic alopecia?
Although, testosterone and DHT are predominately male hormones, females also produce these hormones but in little amounts. Women produce testosterone by the adrenal glands and also converts to DHT by 5 alpha reductase, exactly the same process but in small amounts.
Treatment
Unfortunately, the cure for hair loss has yet to be discovered and only treatments are available to stop the progress of hair loss and also stimulate hair growth. The problem with hair loss treatment is when it is discontinued hair loss will again start, so it is important touse these products continuously.Presently, there are plenty of hair loss treatment products available, but be aware that some treatments have severe side effects in males. But there are safer herbal nutrient based treatments that are available, these products are proven to be safe even after years of use.
