VITAMIN E AS A NATURAL HAIR LOSS TREATMENT

One useful natural hair loss treatment is vitamin E. This is a fat soluble vitamin that includes tocopherols and tocotrienols. Alpha tocopherol is the most active form in humans. For years, vitamin E has been utilized in the treatment of several heath conditions. It is famous for its antioxidant properties.
An antioxidant is a substance that is capable of inhibiting the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that produces free-radicals. In turn, these so called free radicals damage the cells in the body. An antioxidant such as vitamin E removes the free radicals and stops the oxidation reaction. In this way, vitamin E protects all cells in the body against the damaging effects of free radicals on normal healthy cells.
The human body is consistently exposed to free radicals from environmental agents such as air pollution, cigarette smoke, and uv radiation from the sun. Free radicals are also believed to hasten the ageing process. Antioxidants help protect against these conditions and help minimise the damaging effects of toxic pollutants and harmful chemicals.
Vitamin E is also important in the formation of red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Proper oxygenation is vital to normal cell processes, including hair growth. To have healthy hair, a person needs adequate amounts of oxygen as well as essential nutrients from food. A good blood flow to the scalp is needed in order for these nutrients and oxygen to be delivered to the hair follicles.
Vitamin E helps in hair growth because of its antioxidant property that fights hair ageing and because it improves circulation not only in the body but also on the scalp. It can be applied directly on the scalp and could also be taken as a vitamin supplement. In cases of oral intake, care should be taken that not too much is taken in. Daily intake starting at a dose of 400 IU is considered adequate, making sure that no more than 1000 IU is taken to prevent possible toxicity effects.
