UNDERSTANDING TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM

UNDERSTANDING TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM

There are a lot of causes of hair loss but stress is probably one of the common reason for hair loss among younger adults and teens.

Stress can bring about a condition called telogen effluvium, which is a hair loss condition that can causeconsiderable hair fall in just ashort time period. Of course, little exposure to stress won’t cause your hair to fall, only huge amounts of stress like over dieting, stress of giving birth, stress after going under a major operation or even stress from office if its severe enough might cause hair loss.

The normal cycle of hair growth have 3 phases: anagen, catagen and telogen. The telogen phase is the period where hair fall naturally occurs, this last for a 2 – 4 months before entering the 3 -8 year anagen phase. In telogen effluvium, the telogen phase extend more over 2 -4 months before the stressfull condition is controlled

Luckily, this type of hair loss is temporary. Once the stressful conditions have pass or controlled, hair will ultimately grow back in a few months.
