TREAT DANDRUFF EASILY

Posted by Manny Y on 6th Apr 2015

Dandruff is a kind of scalp condition characterised by persistent itching and flaking. It’s not at all really a serious medical problem but more of a social one. You always have that urge to scratch your head and quite often, flakes are visible not only on your hair but on your clothing as well causing discomfort and awkwardness on your part.

Dandruff is often due to an overproduction of sebum, the oily waxy substance made by the sebaceous glands on the skin and scalp. Under normal conditions, sebum serves a significant part in keeping the hair and scalp moisturised.

However, when there is over production of sebum, this excess oils can obstruct he hair follicles and produce a thick layer of waxy substance. This is what we see as flakes. This lump of dead skin cells will be the cause of severe itching. Moreover, this is an ideal ground for bacterial and fungal growth.

Vigorous itching could eventually damage the hair roots and this will sooner or later lead to hair loss. To prevent hair loss due to dandruff, early intervention is warranted. There are several medicated shampoos available to help control dandruff of the scalp. These contain salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione selenium sulfide, or ketoconazole as the active ingredients.

These can be used two to three times a week and you can also alternate two different formulations. The downside is you can develop resistance to these types of medicated shampoos, meaning that it may work for a while but then you will need to switch to another.

An alternative to medicated antidandruff shampoos is the herbal-based hair loss treatment from Nisim. Unlike medicated shampoos,Nisim Shampoo deeply cleanses the scalp to get rid of sebum buildup, the main cause of dandruff. It is kinder to the scalp as it does not contain harsh chemicals that can cause further damage to the scalp and hair. Nisim Shampoos have proven very effective in controlling and reducing minor scalp problems including itching and dandruff.
