Every day we are constantly being exposed to chemicals. From common household products, the food we eat and when we’re out ofour homes – pollution exposure. No wonder we’re we develop all sorts of disease.
Thank heavens people nowadays have got a choice to go all natural. A lot more people are now going back to the natural way of life. There was a time when herbal medications and remedies are thought to beineffective compared to their chemical counterparts. But the main problem with chemical based drugs are their serious negative effects, specially when used for long periods of time. Natural treatments are a lot more safe and has lesser side effects and these are the medicine of choice when it comes to long term treatments.
A good example of a condition that needs lifelong treatment is hair loss. There are a lot of causes of hair loss but the most dreadful of them all is androgenetic alopecia or male/female baldness. This is a familial type of hair loss where both parent can potentially carry the hair loss gene.
A little time back, it was believed thatthe cause of androgenetic alopecia was a hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. This hormone is an active metabolite of testosterone and a powerful androgen. Increased blood DHT levels meant increase hair fall.
Later it was found that the hair follicles themselves are very sensitive to this hormone. Doctors compared DHT blood results and found that some patients with low DHT levels experience hair loss while some patients with high levels of DHT have a head full of hair.
To counter act this, drug companies develop medicines that inhibit the production of DHT and these drugs actually work in stimulating hair growth. The issue here is DHT is continuously produced by the body, meaning these hair loss treatment
drugs should be used for life to keep hair growing. Since these medications are chemical based, all sorts of serious side effects occur.
Fortunately, there are available treatments that are natural and herbal based. These treatments equally inhibit DHT but are a lot more safe that their chemical counterpart. In fact, the longer these herbal treatments are used the better they get in stimulating hair growth.
