THREE PRIMARY CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS IN WOMEN

Our hair is a significant part of our image. It gives a lot of confidence and sense ofhappiness, especially when we get to look the way we want. Sad to say, hair loss is one condition that can take all of this away and this is very true whether you are old or young. We always see a lot of middle aged or elderly men being bald or having considerable amountof hair loss, this is typically common and expected in men. What we do not see is that women toohave problems withhair loss. It is rare to find women suffering from total baldness, but occasional bald spots can occur or generalized hair thinning.

One more thing that we don’t know about hair loss in women is that there are far more reasons, factors and conditions that cantrigger a women’s hair to fall, in comparisonto men. Below are common conditions that causes hair loss in women:Androgenetic alopecia.

Also referred to as female pattern hair loss this the most frequent cause of hair loss in women. This is actually the same condition that cause male pattern hair loss which is also the most common causes hair loss in men. How does androgenetic alopecia cause hair loss? It cuases hair loss because of the genetic sensitivity of scalp hair follicles to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. This isactually a male hormone, that’s why more men suffer from hair loss, but women also produce small amounts ofthis hormone by the adrenal glands, hence the hair loss.Telogen effluvium. This condition cause

massive hair loss in just ashort time period, common among women who just given birth. Telogen effluvium can also befound among on hard core dieters or those who are under extreme stress.Traction alopecia is another

common cause ofhair loss in women who wears a tight bun, pony tail, cornrows or anything that involves tying the hair up. Putting tension to hair for extended periods of time can literally pluck out hair from the roots.

The good news is, all the conditions above are very treatable. Using a hair loss treatment can combat the effects of androgenetic alopecia. Telogen effluvium can be left alone because it is self limiting among mothers who just given birth. Dieters who literally starve themselves should get back to their regular diets if they want their hair to grow back. In traction alopecia, just loosen up hair or just avoid these hair styles.
