THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HAIR TRANSPLANT

Posted by Manny Y on 7th Apr 2015

It’s been found that a lot of young men suffering from hair loss are interested or would want to undergo a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) or simply put a hair transplant. This hair loss treatment approach uses a small punch instrument to extract healthy hair follicles from areas of dense hair growth. Usually, hair is extracted from the back and transplanted back to bald areas of the scalp.

This treatment is an effective but a very expensive treatment for hair loss. It is also important to know that hair transplant is not an instant treatment. It is a misnomer that once hair grows after transplant, that’s it – instant thick hair. In reality, newly transplanted hair follicles will shed off its initial mature hair within a week or more. Next, no hair growth will occur until 4 to 5 months later. This initial hair growth starts as thin baby hairs and it takes a year or two before it matures fully. This is the only time where a patient can totallyappreciate the results of the transplant.

Is it worth every penny? It definitely is. In only two to three years, what was flat and shiny is now filled with hair growth. The only downside is its cost. A hair transplant can range for £5,000 to £30,000. Wayne Rooney is said to have spent £30000 for his transplant. Depending on the advancement of hair loss, others spend £6,000 per session and it usually takes about three sessions to complete the transplant.

How about the majority who cannot afford or who do not want to spend too much for their vanity? Do not worry as there are a lot of hair loss treatments that are effective in stopping further hair fall. Better yet, these products can be used as a preventive measure, especially if hair loss runs in the family.
