THE REALITIES OF AGEING AND HAIR LOSS

Each man has a potential to experience hair loss once they come of age, this is due to a condition termed androgenetic alopecia. This is basically the most common cause of hair loss in men, women and even children. Usually, obvious signs of increased hair fall start with the age 30 years and older, unfortunately, there are cases where even teenagers experience hair loss.

Why do teens experience hair loss? Well, because androgenetic alopecia is an inherited condition and it is transferred from one generation to the other. If early hair loss runs in the family, then it is very probable that the early hair loss gene will be forwarded to their children as well.
Keep in mind that there is no absolute cure for hair loss, it can only be treated or delayed. Today, there are many hair loss treatments on the market. Some products are focused in reducing the hormone dihydrotestosterone in the human body or directly on the scalp. Others improve the circulation of blood on the scalp. There are also natural and herbal treatments that supply or replenish the nutrients the hair follicles need for healthy hair growth.
Androgenetic alopecia occurs because for some reason, the hair follicles specifically on the scalp are sensitive to DHT. Although DHT triggers body hair growth and is responsible for all body hair, sadly, this is the reverse when it comes to scalp hair. Others say that DHT causes the scalp to slowly thicken or harden. This scalp thickening causes the blood vessels to shrink, decreasing the nutrients that are carried by the blood to the hair follicles. As a result, slowly but surely, each hair strand become thinner and finer until there comes a time when the hair follicles can no longer produce terminal hair. All that will be left are very fine and thin hairs called peach fuzz or vellus hair.
