When we come of age, there are a lot of changes that happens to our body and this includes hair loss. Androgenetic alopecia is a type of hair loss that is genetically transferred from one family member to another.

The reason behind androgenetic alopecia is due to the hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT is an active metabolite of testosterone and has a very high affinity to androgenic receptors, which makes it a very potent than testosterone.

This hormone is accountable for triggering the secondary traits in males. This is the period when a child develop more manly traits like: increased muscle mass, prominence of the Adam’s apple, deepening of the voice and increase in bodily hair growth. During this stage, hair grows everywhere for males: chest hair, underarm hair, facial, pubic and even nose hair.

Sadly, this enormous spur of bodily growth of hair spells havoc to existing hair on the scalp. Even in improvements in medicine, scientist still doesn’t know why this occurs. For those people who are genetically susceptible, the hairs on the scalp are sensitive to DHT.

This is the reason why managing hair loss should be done early, so to prevent the harmful effects of DHT on scalp hair. Androgenetic alopecia is a very slow but progressive type of hair loss and hair follicle damage could even start on puberty and show signs of hair loss by age 30. For this reason, it is best to prevent DHT from harming the follicles.

It would be Ideal to treat hair loss after puberty and a hair loss treatment that is best for long term use are herbal based treatment.
