Getting a bad hair cut is very common, we all experience it. But the problem with a bad hair cut is the long wait before our hair grows back the length we want it. In normal circumstances, our hair grows about half an inch a month. Imagine if your stylist cut 3 inches of hair, which will take about 6 months to get your hairs original length. Now that’s a long wait.
Luckily, there are thing you can do get faster hair growth, below are a few tips:
- Keep your hair and scalp clean. Regular shampooing will keep your hair and scalp clean at all times. This will not only wash off any debris on your hair, it also help control oil production on the scalp. Natural oils produced in the scalp called sebum are beneficial for the scalp and hair because sebum acts as a natural hair conditioner. But if sebum is not regularly washed off, this could lead to microbial and fungal growth, so it is important to wash hair from time to time.
- Start a healthy diet. Getting the right amounts of nutrients form vegetables, fish and lean meat is good way to supply all the nutrients for faster growing hair. Hair producing cells found underneath the hair follicles are considered one of the fastest growing cells in the body, so it is important to have a constant supply of healthy nutrients for these cells to continuously grow hair.
- Vitamins and minerals. Vitamins are very important, without them our body will not function properly. Vitamins are co-enzymes that help the body metabolize food more efficiently. There are specific vitamins like: vitamin B5 (panthotenic acid) and vitamin B7 (biotin) that benefit hair when applied directly to the scalp and hair. Both vitamins help strengthen hair. Minerals like iron are important because it help the red blood cells carry life giving oxygen to the hair follicles.
- Exercise. A regular workout is not only great for your health, it’s also good for hair. Exercise improve blood circulation, hence increase distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles.
- Hair product. There are available hair products that stimulate hair growth. Always use products that contain natural ingredients vs chemical base products.
