Androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness is a very common problem. About 90% of hair loss cases in men is due to this unwanted condition. Typically, hair loss starts around the age of 30 years old and gets worse with age.

Fortunately, there are a lot of things that can be done to treat or prevent this type of hair loss. Like any type of illness, proper identification of the condition should be done first, remember there are plenty of conditions that causes hair to fall, but if you already know that you’ll will suffer from hair loss there are things that can be done:

You might not know it but hair follicles need a lot of nutrients to grow hair. Actually, the hair bulb, which is found underneath the follicles, is considered one of the fastest growing cells in the body. Nutrients, vitamins and minerals are very important for normal healthy hair growth and over all prevent hair loss. Protein from lean mean is important since this is what hair is generally made of. Iron and zinc are important minerals for hair, as well as vitamins like biotin(vitamin B7), pantothenic acid(vitamin B6) and thiamine.

Eating healthy oils are also important in keeping the skin and hair well hydrated. Omega-3 fatty acids seen in fish can help prevent hair loss. Regularly massaging the scalp can also help increase blood circulation and stimulate normal hair growth. Extra virgin coconut oil could also be used while massaging to help condition the skin and hair, and help reduce infections due to its anti bacterial properties.

Plant extracts from the saw palmetto tree have demostrated to be an effective treatment for hair loss since the plant juices contains a natural inhibitor for dihydrotestosterone (DHT). We all know, DHT is a hormone that is accountable for male pattern hair loss, this is the reason why most hair loss treatment products focus on stopping the production of DHT. The main advantage of using herbal treatments is they are safe to use because these products are easily metabolized by the body, thus safely stimulate hair growth without any side effects.
