MANAGE STRESS TO STOP HAIR LOSS

Stress is a multi factorial condition that comes from both internal and external forces that affects an individual. One of the external stresses are the ones that we experience in school, at work, or at home. Basically, these are all the physical factors and experiences we encounter on a day to day basis. Internal stresses involves the body’s own ability to deal with stress and this is greatly influenced by an individual’s general health, nutritional status, and also the amount of rest or sleep an individual has.

Every individualresponds to stress differently, a certain stimuli can be very stressful for some individuals, while others may consider it mild or not even stressful at all. At a gathering where all of the guests are served the same food, there some instances where one or two persons will feel sick or rush to the rest room while the others are simply enjoying their meal. Is this food poisoning? Certainly not, it’s just that some individuals may be going through a considerable amount of stress whether internally or externally that may not make them feel very well.
A lot of stress is not good for the body and it affects everything from the tip of your toes to the top of your head and this means hair loss problems. Aside from androgenic alopecia or male and female hair loss which is the primary cause of baldness, stress is probably the second most common cause of sudden hair fall.
Stress causes a condition called telogen effluvium. This is where all the hair follicles are forced to enter the telogen phase, regardless of their present phase. This can be induced by physical stress due to trauma like after giving birth for example. Stress from malnutrition can also cause this type of hair loss. Telogen effluvium can cause massive hair loss and this can happen overnight.
The good news about these types of hair loss is that they are curable unlike hair loss brought about by alopecia areata. When the stressful event has ended and of course coupled with adequate care of the body by eating well, hair will eventually grow back.
