LACK OF PROTIEN INTAKE MAY CAUSE HAIR LOSS

Posted by Manny Y on 7th Apr 2015

Hair loss is a problem for everyone. Whether you are a man, a woman or even a teenager, hair loss knows no boundaries. Generally, hair loss is caused by androgenetic alopecia. This is a type of hair loss that is genetically passed on from a family member to the next generation. This is commonly noticeable by age 30 on both sexes and progress onwards. But even teens can suffer from this. If a child has a family history of teen hair loss, then there’s a high probability that that child will also experience early hair loss.

Fortunately, this gene related hair loss runs in family members only. If you are suffering from early hair loss but your father or grandfather does not have any signs of baldness, then you have nothing to worry about because there must be something else that is causing your hair loss.

The problem with children these days is that they love to eat foods that aren’t really nutritious. Typically, they eat starchy and oil rich snacks that do not provide much nutrients.

The hair follicle is like a constantly running factory that produces hair. Every month, the follicle can grow about half an inch of hair. For optimum hair growth, the follicles need a lot of protein and certain vitamins. Why protein? This is because hair is entirely made of protein. So, if there is less protein intake, hair loss can also occur.

This type of hair loss is called telogen effluvium. This condition forces all the hair follicles to enter the telogen phase regardless of what phase they are. There are three phases in the normal hair growth cycle and the telogen phase is the stage where hair fall occurs. For some reason, when a person experiences severe stress or starvation, this condition occurs.

The solution to this is to simply eat a well balanced diet, adding more protein to meet the requirements of the hair follicles. But if the child does not have a preference for protein rich foods, then there are available hair loss treatment products that are loaded with amino acids and vitamins the hair needs to promote hair growth.
