For hair thinning, deciding on a treatment for hair loss can be quite a challenge. Several products are available, ranging from naturalhair loss treatment products to drug based ones. But if the hair and scalp is not properly cared for, even these will hardly work.
Summer months are the perfect time for travel, going to the beach, engaging in outdoor sports, and simply stretching out under the sun. Though this might be the best time to get a fitter, healthier body, it can also be a bad time for the hair.
To get ready for summer, it is a great idea to have the hair trimmed at the ends, especially for those with frizzy hair or with signs of split ends.
Safeguard the hair from the sun before going outdoors, by wearing scarves, wide brimmed hats, or caps. The suns ultraviolet rays not only damaging to the skin and eyes, but to the hair as well. Using a leave in conditioner with sunscreen helps shied the hair from UVA and UVB rays, much like sunscreen lotions to protect the skin and wearing sunglasses to shield the eyes.
Minimise the use of hot showers, curling irons, and hair dryers because too much heat can dry out the hair further. Keeping away from ammonia, alcohol, or peroxide based hair dyes and hair colours is another way to protect the hair cuticle.
Drinking enough fluids to keep the body and hair hydrated. Whenever feasible, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, which is from 10am to 2pm when the sun is at its hottest.
When swimming in the pool, wet the hair before diving in. This will reduce the absorption of chlorine, which is very drying to the hair. Similarly, the combination of sun and salt water from the sea can damage the protective layer of the hair called the hydrolipidic film.
Using natural herbal based shampoos, conditioners, and hair loss treatment products will add protection to the hair and will not strip the hair of its natural oils. Preventing hair loss and hair thinning especially during summer is basically taking proper preventive measures and maintaining good hair care habits.
