HAIR LOSS? OR IS IT NORMAL SHEDDING?

HAIR LOSS? OR IS IT NORMAL SHEDDING?

When we reach a certain age, it is common to develop hair loss issues. But hey, no problem, there are a lot of hair loss treatment products to choose from. The only problem is: which hair loss product suits you, because making the right choice can be challenging. Various treatments are available and it all depends on the extent of your hair loss, how much you are willing to spend, whether you want to use oral or topical medications, if you are willing to undergo surgical hair restoration, or whether you only want to use all natural or herbal hair loss treatments.

But the big question here is: are you really suffering from hair loss? Is it just hair fall? How do you know which is normal and increased hair fall?

To understand this you should know that the hair grows in cycles. The normal hair growth cycle is composed of 3 phases: anagen, telogen and catagen phase. At any given time, around 90% of the hair is in the anagen phase (growing phase) and the rest are in the Catagen phase (resting phase) or Telogen phase (shedding phase).

It is considered normal to shed up to 100 strands of hair per day. From the same follicle where hair is shed, new hair grows in its place. Sometimes, because of certain hormonal surges or imbalances caused by menopause, childbirth, pregnancy, and even stress, you may notice more falling hair. You might notice more hair on your pillow, couch, shower drain, and carpet around where you comb or blow-dry your hair. There seems to be hair everywhere the house and when this happens, you are surely losing more hair than normal.

The good news is that hair loss caused by hormonal imbalances is reversible. Hair shedding usually resolves after a few months. Resorting to aggressive hair loss treatment procedures is rarely warranted.

During the period of excessive hair shedding and hair fall, be sure to be extra gentle to your hair and scalp. Avoid too much blow-drying and use of hair styling products. Skip chemical treatments and hair dyes as these can weaken your hair further. Ordinary shampoos contain harsh chemicals so better switch to herbal-based shampoos like Nisim which is kinder to the hair and scalp. Furthermore, Nisim feeds hair with B complex vitamins and amino acids and can also help control excessive hair loss.
