HAIR LOSS IN TEENAGERS

Hair loss is a common problem for both men and women. This condition typically occurs by the age of 35 to 40 years old and can really cause a lot of problems because it can affect your confidence, especially for women, who are known to love their hair. This type of hair loss is called androgenetic alopecia, a genetic type of hair loss triggered by the hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT.

Unfortunately, hair loss in now seen among young teenagers. You will find different kinds of hair loss cases ranging from patchy hair loss to generalized hair thinning. Though there are some who experience androgenetic alopecia at an early age especially if they have a family history of early hair loss, there are still different causes of hair loss among children, which will be discussed below:

Another cause of hair loss is due to over dieting. This condition is more common in girls and presently the occurrence of this type of hair loss in increasing. A lot of teenage girls go diets and take it to the extreme, sometimes not consuming any food at all. This is due to peer pressure and constant teasing about them being fat, where actually they are already thin. Hair loss occurs because lack of nutrition, especially proteins and some important vitamins the hair needs for normal growth.

Certain hair styles also can cause a hair loss condition called traction alopecia. Wearing a thigh pony tail or pig tail can put a lot of tension on the hair causing it to break. In some cases, hair can be pulled directly from the roots causing patch hair loss.
