Studies show that 4 of every 5 men will experience hair loss by the age of 60 years old. This is because of hormonal changes within the male body affecting the natural growth of hair follicles in the scalp. Surprisingly, this change in hormones only inhibits hair growth in the scalp. Chest hair, facial hair, and all body hair are in factstimulated growth due to this change.
What hormone does all of this?
A hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT is an extremely potent androgen and is responsible for a lot of bodily functions. However, this hormone is the number cause of hair loss in men and also women of all ages. Androgentic alopecia is medical term for this type of hair loss and is commonly known as male pattern hair loss or female pattern hair loss.
Presently, the only treatments for this type of hair loss are DHT inhibitors. There are all sorts of hair loss treatment products available on the market. Possible cures are still underway with the use of stem cells.
