EIGHT THINGS YOU NEED BEFORE TRAVELLING TO THE TROPICS

Posted by Manny Y on 6th Apr 2015

Hey, are you planning on traveling abroad? Are you arranging on visiting some of the tropical areas of the world? Well, that’s great then. But don’t forget to prepare your gear and prepare yourself as well.

Here are a few things you need before visiting the Tropics:

1. Get a malaria shot. These areas are full of mosquitoes especially in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. Avoid traveling during the rainy season but even without the rain there are still mosquitoes flying around. Since you’ll be outdoors most of the time, better get the shot than be sorry.

2. Bring anti-mosquito sprays or lotions. Malaria isn’t the only disease a mosquito carries, there’s also dengue fever and yellow fever. Unfortunately, there aren’t any vaccines available for dengue and yellow fever so it’s best not get bitten.

3. Sunscreen. Now the sun in tropics is really hot so it’s easy to get nasty sunburn on these areas. Sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher does the job but anything lower isn’t recommended. Don’t forget to reapply from time to time.

4. Medications. Always bring extra medications that are prescribed to you. The medicines that you need might not be available in some countries. Also, bring the prescription or original packaging just to make sure. You’ll never know if you want stay longer in these beautiful countries.

5. Nisim shampoo and Nisim conditioner. Traveling to strange, hot, humid places can be stressful, and stress can trigger hair loss. These two nutrient rich products can prevent hair loss during your travels.

6. If possible, always drink from bottled water. A lot of water borne diseases like cholera, dysentery, hepatitis and diarrhea lurk on some areas of the tropics.

7. Proper/appropriate clothing. It’s best to bring all cotton or a combination of cotton and polyester clothing. It’s important that the fabric should “breathe”. Avoid leather or any clothing that locks in body heat.

8. Lastly, don’t forget your travel book. You’ll never enjoy your travels if you don’t know where you’re going, right?
