EAT WELL TO HELP KEEP HAIR NICE AND HEALTHY

Our hair can show a lot about who we are. The way we style our hair whether or not it’s straight or curled, colored or not, our hair contributes a lot how beautiful we look.
To make our hair constantly ravishing, of course everyday care is needed. Don’t even think that your hair will spontaneously grow out looking wonderful. Special care is needed and this includes taking care of your body too.
Our physical condition reflects the overall outcome of our body and hair. If we don’t eat properly like extreme dieters do or those who are anorexic , we become thin and weak, this also can be seen in our hair which looks very dry and brittle, also, hair loss is no stranger to those who have eating problems.
If we don’t eat the right amounts of nutrients our hair or any part of our body begins to atrophy. Our hair uses a lot of protein to produce about half an inch of hair a month, this includes a number of vitamins to help assist in healthy hair growth. Without the nutrients it needs, a sudden change of the hair’s growth cycle could occur that could lead to extreme hair loss.
This hair loss condition is called telogen effluvium. Typically, there are three phases in the hair growth cycle: anagen, catagen and telogen phase. About 85% of our hair is in the anagen phase, which is the phase of active growth, this last for about 5 to 7 years until it enters the catagen phase. There is absolutely no growth whatsoever in the catagen or transition phase, this is the time when the hair bud separates from the hair bulb ready to be expelled in the next phase. The telogen phase is the time when hair falls out, this is natural hair fall and not hair loss. In this phase, it is considered normal to shed about 80 to 100 hair strands per day. This is automatically replaced with new hair growth, so no hair loss can occur. But when hair exceeds 100 strands a day, this is then considered hair loss.
In telogen effluvium, almost all or most hair strands enter telogen phase regardless of what phase they are, resulting to massive hair loss.
Thankfully, telogen effluvium is self limiting, as long as the requirements are met, like in this case stop with the extreme dieting and go on with the usual diets we usually follow and hair will spontaneously grow back on its own. It is advised; however, to use a hair loss treatment to help hasten the growth process.
