There has been plenty of writing about hair loss and dihydrotesterone (DHT). DHT the number one cause of male pattern baldness. And a lot of hair loss treatment products are focusing on either stopping or decreasing the amount of DHT systemically or inhibiting DHT directly on the scalp.

Although it is true that higher amounts of DHT might cause hair loss, patients with normal levels of DHT or even low levels of DHT can still experience male pattern baldness. Other patients with increased DHT levels may still have a head full of hair. So, it also important to consider the sensitivity of the follicles to DHT and the age at which the follicles are susceptible to DHT.
With these facts, it shows that DHT related hair loss is very complex and there are a lot of factors related to amount and sensitivity to DHT and also the timing and age in which a person could be susceptible.
