COMMON HAIR CARE MYTHS

COMMON HAIR CARE MYTHS

Posted by Manny Y on 8th Apr 2015

Hair care can be done in numerous ways. Some people even have hair care secrets that are passed on from relatives and friends. Do these well kept hair care secrets really beatify hair? Are they actually effective or are you a victim of hair care myths?

A lot of people go crazy when they can find a hair care solution for their messed up hair, if they can’t fix up their hair the conventional way, it’s common practice to look for other solutions and this is where hair care myths come in. The funny thing is, you might be doing some of these hair care myths without you knowing it. Below are just few of them.

Hair Care Myth 1: Using the same shampoo for a long time will lose its effectively.

This is not true. Shampoos or any products that clean our bodies externally do not lose their affectivity after long use. Shampoos are not like medicines that we take internally, that over time we develop a resistance and an increase in dosage is needed for it to be effective again.

Hair Care Myth 2: Trimming Hair repeatedly will encourage fast hair growth.

Again, this is not true. This frequent hair trimming myth is probably one the common myths we practice. Normally, our hair grows about half an inch a month and depending on the health condition of a person, hair can actually grow faster or even slower.

Hair Care Myth 3: Frequent hair brushing or brushing hair 100 times a day will make hair healthy.

This is another common hair care myth. It is believed that brushing hair 100 times will stimulate the production of natural hair oils from the scalp and the constant brushing will time spread this oil to the hair leading to healthy hair. This is absolutely not true.

Hair Care Myth 4: Washing hair with cold water makes hair shiny.

Cold water has nothing to do with making hair or turning hair shinier.

Hair Care Myth 5: Shampooing hair 3 to 4 times a week will deplete the hair with natural oils.

This not true, because our sebaceous glands, a gland that is found of each hair follicle produce sebum. Sebum acts as a natural hair and skin conditioner and shampooing 3 to 4 times is not enough to wash off this oil.
