Our hair shows a lot of who we are and taking good care ofit is important to keep itlooking great. In fact, we more often than not neglect or do not know how to take care of our hair properly. Here aresome tips on how to properly take care of our hair.
- Shampoo your hair 3 to 4 times a week. Many people shampoo their hair daily but they’re not aware that this can eventually dry the hair and scalp, leading to dry brittle hair. Our skin have special glands that secretes sebum, a natural oil that conditions the skin and hair. Daily shampooing can strip this important oil.
- Do not use anti-dandruff shampoo as your regular shampoo. These shampoos are medicated, therefore, much stronger than your regular shampoos. Use these products only if you have actual bouts of dandruff and should not be used regularly as a preventive measure. Maintaining your scalp clean is enough to prevent dandruff.
- Use any heating element occasionally. Hot blow drying, straightening and curling irons dehydrate the hair strands, literally vaporizing all the moisture and oils to the core. Again, this can make the hair very brittle.
- Do not comb hair when it’s wet because this can break or pull hair from the roots. When hair is wet, they bind to each other making it extremely difficult to comb or brush. Be patient and towel dry hair before combing.
- When combing use a wide-tooth comb, this reduces friction and less likely to pull out or break any hair strands.
- Always pat dry hair and not vigorously rubbing the towel to your scalp and hair.
- Dyeing can damage hair, but hair dying is already an accepted part of fashion that is unavoidable. We even colour our hair down there to match our head hair. So the best thing to do is not to frequently change hair colours. Let your hair rest between dyeing sessions.
