4 COMMON CAUSES THAT CAN SLOW HAIR GROWTH

4 COMMON CAUSES THAT CAN SLOW HAIR GROWTH

Posted by Manny Y on 8th Apr 2015

We all want our hair growing fast and healthy, because having beautifully growing hair is something to be proud of, especially for women. But there are times when we just can’t get our hair growing. Slow or stunted hair growth can be due to a lot of causes, and knowing these causes is the best way to get hair growing healthy again.

Heat

Using heat is the easiest way to style hair, but using too much heat can damage hair. Hot ceramic hair straighteners, hair curlers and blow dries can easily vaporize all the moisture the hair can hold, leaving hair dull and dry and prone to breakage. Hair breakage can really slow down hair growth.

Extreme Diet

Ever noticed why extreme dieters have very dry skin and hair? Well, obviously they’re not eating that much, right? But it’s the lack of protein consumption that’s causing their skin and hair to look very dull and dry. Our hair is mostly made of a protein called keratin, the same protein found in our skin and nails. So it is important to consume the right amounts of protein daily to keep our hair, as well as our skin and nails healthy.

Hair Dyes

It is fine to change hair colours from time to time. But if you are like La Gaga who frequently change hair colours, your hair will experience chemical burns as she did. Chemicals from hair dyes are strong and can damage to hair especially when done repeatedly. To be safe, use natural hair dyes. They may not last long compared to your chemical dyes, but they are safe to use, even if you frequently change hair colours.

Rough Combing

When combing, it is natural to get tangles, and what we do with the tangles is what’s causing hair problems. It is common for us to force the comb thru our hair when it gets tangled, again causing hair breakage and worse, some hairs can get pulled out from the roots. To resolve this, use wide toothed combs or special detangling brushes and combs.
