CHILDREN HAPPY TO DONATE THEIR HAIR TO CHARITY

Lots of people today are helping children who are suffering from long-term hair loss by donating their hair to Locks of Love. This is a non-profit organization that gives away free wigs to financially burdened children who are suffering from hair loss. The majority of children being helped have a condition called alopecia areata. This is where your own immune system mysteriously thinks that your hair follicles are foreign and attacks them, causing patchy hair loss to total baldness. Unfortunately, even with advancement in medicine, the cause of alopecia areata is still unknown.
It’s very interesting to find that plenty of children donate their hair to help out. A lot of parents are really happy to see their daughters voluntarily giving up their hair but are puzzled how to donate to charity.
Below are the basic requirements before donating your hair to charity:
1. Hair needs to be at least 10 inches long. For curly hair, hair can be stretched to meet the requirements.
2. Hair should be braided or in a pony tail before cutting.
3. It is important that the hair is clean and dry before cutting.
4. Hair that has been coloured is acceptable but not bleached. Coloured hair that has been bleached is not acceptable.
5. Place the braid or ponytail inside of a plastic bag, and then inside a padded envelope.
Donors should know that their hair donations gives back the self-esteem and confidence on these children who have been struck with hair loss at an early age.
As parents we would love to see our kids sharing what they have, and the best reward you can give your child is to give her FAST. FAST is a shampoo and conditioner hair treatment that is filled with nutrients that the hair needs to accelerate hair growth. Amazingly, FAST is clinically proven to stimulate fast hair growth – up to 45% faster.
