What Influences Hair Growth

hair growthAbout our hair and hair growth. Our hair have a very important function in protecting our scalp from abrasions when we bump our head, it also prevent our brains from overheating when we’re out under the sun. But most of us think that our head hair grow basically for aesthetic reasons.

Yes, our head hair can define a lot of things. The way we style our hair defines a lot about the personality of a person. That’s why we spend some time or maybe plenty of time fixing up our hair. But have you wondered how long our hair grows each month? What influences hair growth and are there ways to make hair grow faster?

Basically, our hair grows about half an inch each month and depending on the condition of an individual, hair can grow faster or slower. We normally shed about 80 to 100 strands a day, amazingly this is considered normal and any strands that exceed 100 is considered hair loss.

The healthier you are the faster hair grows. Keeping a healthy diet and consuming protein rich foods is vital for hair growth. Also, vitamins are important because act as co-enzymes that help metabolise food more efficiently. So it is essential to take your daily vitamin and mineral supplements.

Genes. Our genes also influence the rate of hair growth. If you have a family history fast growing hair, then most probably you’ll be having the same condition. This is excellent for lucky individuals that inherit these good hair genes.

Age. The way our hair grows also depends on what age we are in. Generally, we experience excellent hair growth while we are young and hair growth slowly diminishes and we get older. Another problem with hair as we age is the increase in hair fall. We normally shed about 80 to 100 hair strands each day, any excess shedding is considered hair loss.
